If you are one of the people who think you have to spend a small fortune to enjoy the benefits of a greenhouse, I can tell you from personal experience that you are wrong. It does take some money, time, effort and commitment to pull it off but you can enjoy the benefits of a cheap home greenhouse and feel good about growing your own food or protecting your delicate outdoor plants or just having a place to place your outdoor potted plants on those colder than normal nights. I use a portable greenhouse placed and use an electric heater and keep lettuce and spinach and a few chosen herbs going all year.

I also use cold frame season extenders to place over several raised beds to extend the season for many of the plants that can grow well into the late fall. This allows me to have some additional foods that I would not be able to keep growing under other circumstances. The truth is; if there is a will there is a way.
